Fantasy Football Starts and Sits by James

This is a new column that reviews the 15 players that I think will have a good week. It also reviews the 15 I think will not have a good week. Note that the obvious starters are not on here because you will always play them. All 32 teams are playing this week so there are no byes.

5 Starting QBS-1. Alex Smith VS Giants- The Giants have the 17th worst pass defense in the league giving up 240 yards a game. Smith and the 49ers are rolling right now and I believe it will continue against the Giants. Look for Alex to have a pair of passing touchdowns and high 200s for yards.

2. Matt Hasselback VS Carolina-Carolina's defense has been plagued by injuries the whole season and teams have taken advantage. They are giving up 230 passing yards a game and Matt has been on a very good run with the Titans. I think he will throw a pair of touchdowns and 300 yards passing against the weak defense.

3. Mark Sanchez VS New England-The Patriots are ranked 32 in the league in passing defense giving up a whopping 315 a game. Mark has found a connection with wide receiver Plaxico Burress and they just came of a win against the Bills. He will more time in the pocket with the recent waive of Albert Haynesworth, defensive end for the Patriots. Look for a 300 plus yard performance.

4. Matt Shaub VS Tampa Bay- Tampa is losing a grip on the playoffs and need a win. But the Texans are not a team to go down without a fight. Shaub will take advantage of the 28th ranked passing defense and light them up. With Andre Johnson maybe coming back [ he is listed as day-to-day] they will have to double him leaving one or two receivers or tight-ends open. Possibly a 260 yard showing but also look for some scores through the air.

5. Christian Ponder VS Green Bay-Some Monday Night Football going on here. You have the best quarterback in Rodgers against the rookie in Ponder. You are probably thinking no way am I starting Ponder against the Packers. You mean the 31st ranked pass defense in the league. They had a good week defensively last week with two picks for scores but they gave up 38 points. Ponder will look to exploit that and have the best game of his short NFL career this Sunday.

5 Starting Running backs 1. Frank Gore VS Giants-The Giants are ranked 24th in rush defense with almost 130 a game. Gore will power through and score a rushing and a receiving touchdown. He will look to have his sixth straight 100 yard rushing game.

2. Jackie Battle VS Denver-Denver is giving up 115 yards on ground this year. Kansas City has two running backs that split Thomas Jones and Battle but Battle will get the load this week. He will rush for close to a hundred yards and catch a few too. He will look to find the end-zone at least once this Sunday.

3. Ryan Matthews VS Oakland-Oakland is giving up 140 yards a game when the running back steps on the field. Ryan Matthews is that kind of guy that you don't quite no if he will have a good game or not and you usually put him at your flex. But this week is his week to shine. The Chargers are on a three game losing streak and look to turn it up these next few weeks, and he is the key to it. Look for 150 yards from scrimmage and a pair of touchdowns.

4. Benjarvus Green Ellis VS Jets-WHAT no way against the Jets, but I say yes. The Jets have the best corner in the league in Darrel Revis, but he just affects the passing game. The Jets run game is giving up 115 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Ellis will want the ball in the running and passing game. 120 total yards and a touchdown.

5. Reggie Bush VS Redskins-Bush has been on an offensive tear these past weeks and is not slowing down. The Skins are not the defense team people gives them credit for. They are giving up 120 yards on the ground and Bush catches too. He will rack up about 150 in total yardage on Sunday.

5 Starting Wide Receivers 1. Preston Parker VS Houston-Parker is quickly become Josh Freeman favorite target. He has been on a hot streak and I think it will continue. He had 3 catches for 56 yards in the loss to the Saints. He had a touchdown against the Bears two weeks ago. Look for 90 yards and a touchdown performance.

2. Jerome Simpson VS Pittsburgh-Simpson is becoming a target in the redzone and he caught a touchdown last week. The Steelers cornerbacks are not the best in the league and A.J. Green is the number 1 receiver so the double will go to him leaving Jerome in a man-to-man situation. Look for 5 catches and possibly a shot in the endzone.

3. Laurent Robinson VS Seattle-Miles Austin is out for four weeks and Romo was already targeting Robinson with him in. Now that Dez has become the number one option, it leaves Robinson with just a linebacker on him or the safety who has his back turned to the speedy Robinson. Look for him to get 6 catches for a buck ten and a score.

4. Antonio Brown VS Cincinnati- The Steerlers have lost there fourth option in Emmanuel Sanders for the year and that moves Brown up to the second on third option. He is a quick, good route-running receiver that can catch the deep, short and mid-range ball. Mike Wallace is the number one option but he is a one trick pony with the deep ball. Hines Ward is the second but he doesn't catch anything deep, just a few short. But Brown will catch all of them. We will explode with 8 catches for 120 and a touchdown.

5. Mario Manningham VS San Fransico- The 49ers defense against the run is tops in the division, but there pass is not as good. With Hakeem Nicks hurt and Bradshaw hurt they will look for Mario in the goal line situations or with the long ball. He will be targeted a lot and he will use his explosive jumping ability to go and get those hard ones. I think he will have 6 catches for 100 yards and a score or two.

 Sit em's
Ryan Fitzpatrick VS Dallas
Matt Cassel VS Miami
Ladainian Tomlinson VS New England
Rashard Mendenhall VS Cincinnati
Percy Harvin VS Green Bay
Sidney Rice VS Baltimore
